Excitation and absorption of extraordinary wave in a bounded plasma

Description
A numerical analysis of excitation and absorption of extraordinary wave in a bounded plasma is described. Extraordinary wave, which is excited by a simple coil immersed in a steady axial magnetic field, is strongly absorbed near the upper hybrid frequency. However, its absorption rate depends on the electron collision frequency and the geometrical structure of the coupling coil. (author)
