Power from thorium?
Description
Several new methods as potential power generation using thorium and its compounds are discussed. They include the Fast Energy Amplifier where particle accelerators and nuclear reactors are combined, thorium breeding, fast neutron production by spallation using accelerated proton beams. The safeguard issues concerning terrorism and proliferation for thorium can introduce new measures. The prospects for energy intensities are evaluated. (R.P.)
