Electromigration method for destructive determination of spent nuclear fuel burnup

  • 1. Radievyj Inst., Leningrad (USSR)

Description

The methods and results of WWER spent fuel burnup determination. by 148Nd content and the correlation with accumulation of some transplutonium nuclides are discussed. For the separation of trivalent rare earths and transplutonium elements the method of paper electrophoresis was used. The amount of 148Nd was determined by the isotopic dilution method combined with mass spectrometry with 142Nd as a tracer. For the quantitative determination of americium and curium isotopes a modification of α-spectrometric analysis is proposed with the chemical yield control of isolated elements using 244Cm. (author)
