Method for quantitative determination of sizes of internal casting defects

Description
Quantitative evaluation is designed for X-ray radiography of castings. The radiogram is exposed to visible light. The size of the radiographed area is delineated with a shutter. In dependence on the darkening of the image photocurrent is induced in the photocell which is measured with a millivoltmeter. In case of an internal defect, e.g. a cavity, darkening is more intensive thereby causing greater changes in the photocurrent. (E.S.)
