Regularities of initial period of selective dissolution of eutectic alloys

Description
Kinetics regularities of the initial period of electrochemical dissolution of electronegative component phases of eutectic Cd-Pb, Zn-Cd and Zn-Pb alloys in aqueous solutions of perchlorates are investigated. At dissolution time t ≥ 10-4 the rate of this process is shown to be limited by the rate of the electrochemical reaction its self, then by the rate of mass transfer from the electrode surface to solution volume; then the stage of ion diffusion of the electronegative component in the forming surface porous layer of the alloy becomes controlling. Polarization curves of dissolution of electronegative components from alloys and from the individual state are compared
