The characteristics of the injectable solution of sodium - 99m Tc - pertechnetate obtained by the elution of the Romanian generator 'ROMTEC'

Description
The 99m Tc is a short-lived radioisotope used in medical investigations. Taking into account its national interest, the manufacturing of this radiopharmaceutical product is considered to be very necessary. This paper presents the original elements in technology of preparation of this product by using a generator system based on 99 Mo → 99m Tc nuclear processes starting from the fission 99 Mo adsorbed on Al2O3 and elutions of 99m Tc with 0.9 % NaCl solution performed every 24 hours. The 99m Tc - pertechnetate solution obtained fulfills the requirements of the Romanian and European Pharmacopoeias for injectable solution of sodium - 99m Tc pertechnetate eluted from generator (radionuclidic purity, radiochemical purity, pH value, chemical purity, sterility, endotoxins).
