Description

A series of compositions with stoichiometry Gd2-xUxZr2O7+δ (0.0 ≤ x ≤ 0.25) were synthesized by gel-combustion method using glycine as fuel. The products have been annealed in Ar+H2 atmosphere at 1100℃ for 8h and characterized by XRD. The solubility of uranium was found to be 12.5 mol % in Gd2-xUxZr2O7+δ matrix in reducing condition and 7.5% in oxidizing condition. The analyses of the XRD data of the compositions revealed a gradual decreasing trend in unit cell parameter of cubic lattice with increasing uranium content. The high temperature behaviors of these samples were studied by high temperature XRD. (author)
