Description
The authors of this paper prepared Bi2(1-x)Pb2xSr2Cu3Oy (x = 0, 0.1, 0.2, 0.3 and 0.5) by conventional solid state reactions with various firing temperatures and carried out X-ray diffraction analysis and resistivity measurements. A samples with Tc (zero) at 105K was formed when the Pb concentration approached 0.3 and the firing temperature approached 850 degrees C. The experimental results suggested that the ion ratio, Bi(Sr + Ca): Cu, should be maintained at around 1:3:3 for the optimum starting composition to form the high-Tc phase. It was found that a small amount of Pb replaced a site in the low-Tc phase and that the transition temperature of the low-Tc phase was reduced by the Pb addition
