Protosatellite swarm dynamics

Description
The evolution of a model protosatellite swarm around a growing primeval planet is investigated. Equations are obtained to describe how the swarm surface density will be redistributed as material is accreted from the planet's feeding zone. Preliminary calculations indicate that the model can explain the origin of satellite systems comprising roughly 10-5--10-4 the mass of the planet
