Description
Trace Cr3+ and Cr6+ in water have been determined by preconcentration neutron activation analysis. Cr3+ was adsorbed on magnesium oxide and Cr6+ was reduced to Cr3+ and implemented as process on. The precipitate was collected on 0.45 mm membrane filters and irradiated in Lazy Susan facility at a neutron flux of 3.5x1012 n.cm-2.sec-1. The radioactivities of 51Cr were measured. 51Cr radioisotopes were used to evaluate the chemical yield and establish optimal conditions. The detection limit of this method is 0.022 µg when irradiation time is 20 hours and counting time is 1 hour. (author)
