Vitrification of high-level fission products
Creators
Description
For the solidification of high-level radioactive wastes, numerous methods have been developed of embedding wastes in different materials. Eventually ceramics or glass have been chosen as a matrix. Worldwide, vitrification is favoured at present, with radioactive fission products, mainly in their chemical form of oxides, being embedded in a borosilicate glass matrix, with a weight share of about 10 to 20%. Abstract (German)
