Radiation effect on strength of polyethylene films welded nt joints

Description

The effect of ionizing radiation on some mechanical properties of polyethylene film and its welded joints is described. It has been established that the tensile strengths of lap joints and the polymer itself correlate well, while in the case of T-type joints, there is a correlation with the tensile strength of the polymer being torn only when a tensile failure along the joint edge occurs. The relationships between the tensile strength and irradiation dose in vacuum and in the air are given
