Description

A rice dwarf mutant MU101 from indica cultivar M804 was obtained in the progeny after treatment from 60Co γ-rays, and the morphology and cytology of Mu101 were investigated and analyzed. The results showed that Mu101 was dwarf with, dark green leaves, compact plant type, strong growth vigor, and normal heading and tilling ability. interestingly, the MU101 had two less internodes than its wild type, and internode length was not could be applicable. Therefore, MU101 can be used as a special category of material, with further study value and application in breeding. Moreover, the research laid a basis for cloning the dwarf gene, studying the genetic mechanism and breeding the variety with an ideal plant type with marker-assisted selection. (authors)
