Description
A few years after the Chernobyl accident only a few isotopes (Cs-134, Cs-137, Sr-90) contribute significantly to the population dose. The isotopes are well-bound in the soils and the ecological availibility through the food chains determines the ingestion dose for the populations. Results of activity concentration measurements of various food over long periods are presented and dose calculations for adults, children of 5 years and one year respectively, illustrated. Activity concentrations decay after the nuclear weapons tests is considered as an additional information. The main result of the paper are prognoses of overall ingestion doses to the population due to Chernobyl: 1989: 2,4 mrem; 1990: 2,0 mrem; 1991: 1,6 mrem; 1992: 1,3 mrem and 1993: 1,1 mrem. 6 refs., 11 figs., 3 tab.
