Methodological guide for the elaboration of Medical Physics Organisation Plans (POPM) - Version 1
Description
After brief presentations of the role of the general physicist and of his practice, his missions, and his professional ethics, of the issue of shared responsibilities, and of the expertise in radiation protection, this publication aims at being a guide for the definition and implementation of a medical physics organisation plan. This plan is an organisation gathering various expertises within a team which must be operational to ensure a continuous service with guaranteed quality and safety of medical cares based on ionising radiations. Then, after a brief presentation of the methodological approach adopted for this guide, and of a set of recommendations, the different phases and steps of definition, development and follow-up of such a plan are presented. Issues related to communication are also briefly addressed, as well as some technical aspects related to the different concerned fields (radiotherapy, Curie-therapy, nuclear medicine, radiology, neurosurgery, radiation protection, training, education and research). Sheets are proposed to typically define and describe a specific action
