Description
Possibility to apply a recirculating beam buncher with quasi-equilibrium compression scheme to an induction buncher is discussed for expected basic target experiments of heavy ion fusion at RIKEN. We compare the concept with a system based on a linear induction buncher. Beam physics issues, such as emittance growth, beam loss and dispersion effect, are also discussed during the bunch compression. It is found that the proposed system can achieve the compact buncher, and the required buncher parameters are shown in this paper. (author)
