Description

In this paper, a new method for alpha particle track detection based on an electron multiplier assembly (EMA) working in SQS mode is introduced. The operation of three EMAs with different geometries was investigated in the presence of air and P10 gas. It is shown that each detector's through-hole individually enters the SQS mode and visible streamers appear within the through-holes between EMA plates, when operated in P10 and irradiated with 241Am source. Each streamer column plays the role of a light pixel which is restricted to through-hole dimensions. The streamer photos demonstrate that increasing the number of holes per surface causes the enhancement of streamer resolution.
