Mochovce NPP safety enhancement programme
Description
Safety improvement is an integral part of activities of any nuclear power plant operator. This process is based on continuous monitoring of global progress in the nuclear safety domain and on the evaluation of events that occurred at the plant and at other NPPs worldwide. Such approach was also applied at the Mochovce NPP. Experience from the commissioning and operation of nuclear power plants of a similar type, such as Bohunice NPP (Slovakia) and Dukovany NPP (Czech Republic), even led to modifications and changes at the very design stage. The article describes the approach to nuclear safety improvement and solution of major safety issues adopted at the Mochovce NPP. (orig.)
