Development of composition of ultraviolet-transmitting glasses with increased radiation-optical stability
- 1. Moskovskij Khimiko-Tekhnologicheskij Inst., Moscow (Russian Federation)
Description
Advisability of development of new compositions of ultraviolet-transmitting glasses with increased radiation-optical stability (ROS) is shown. It has been ascertained that increase in total content of alkaline-earth oxides and, specifically, BaO at the expense of CaO+MgO decreases solarization of glasses in the system SiO2-MgO-CaO-BaO-Na2O-K2O. Introduction of Fe2O3 into the composition at the expense of MgO at a certain concentration of Fe2+ and Fe3+ results in clarification of ultraviolet-transmitting glasses in UN range of spectrum and increase in ROS in the course of irradiation by short-wave UN-radiation. Addition of metallic aluminium increases Fe2+/Fe3+ ratio. Refs. 7, figs. 4
