Description
The study of the effect of triamterene on the movements of sodium and potassium shows: the absence of influence of triamterene on sodium movements, and the decrease of the entry of potassium in red blood cells when the solution contains triamterene. This effect of triamterene might be one of those explaining the potassium-sparing effect of this product
Abstract (French)
L'etude de l'effet du triamterene sur les mouvements du sodium et du potassium du globule rouge a mis en evidence que les coefficients de transport actif du sodium ne sont pas modifies et que le coefficient de transport actif du potassium est significativement diminue (p<0,01), a faible concentration (6x10-6M/l). Cet effet au niveau membranaire du triamterene pourrait etre l'un des facteurs expliquant l'epargne du potassium constatee en clinique sous l'action de cette substanceAdditional details
