Description

Various semi-trial-error methods were used for a thermodynamic analysis - calculation of adiabatic temperatures of self-propagating high-temperature synthesis (SHS) reactions in formation of certain intermetallic compounds within the Me-Me1 systems. Equations of high-temperature heat capacities are obtained by the Landiya method and entropy values are calculated by the Eastman formula. Discordance of the obtained calculated values with the known experimental ones is not higher than 5-7%. For predicting potentialities of the SHS-processes all systems of concern are tentatively divides according to the ratio of the adiabatic combustion temperature and melting temperature of the resulting product into three groups: 1 - systems with Tsub(ad)Tsub(melt). It is determined that synthesis under conventional combustion conditions is the most probable for systems of groups 2 and 3; for systems of group 1 the SHS under conventional conditions is possible with preheating
