Energy independence of the radiation chemical yield, G(Cl-), of ethanol-chlorobenzene dosimeter solutions for ionizing photon irradiations

  • 1. Ruder Boskovic Inst., Zagreb (Croatia)

Description

Energy dependence of the radiation chemical yields of Cl-ions, G(Cl-), in irradiated ethanol-chlorobenzene dosimeter solutions containing several selected chlorobenzene concentrations were investigated for ionizing photon irradiations with energies between 50 and 1250 keV. Irradiations were performed by gamma-rays from 60Co source at three different depths in a water phantom and by broad spectra of x-rays at 210, 150 and 120 kV maximum energy. Reference dosimetry for all measurements were carried out by the Fricke dosimeter. When the absorbed dose is measured in terms of absorbed dose in dosimeter solution, no appreciable change of the radiation chemical yields of chloride ions with photon energy were found throughout the energy range applied in this work, i.e. down to the mean energy of about 50 keV.
