New dose coefficients for radon recommended by the CIPR in its Publication 137. Explanatory note
Description
This document aims at specifying the values of new dose coefficients retained by the CIPR regarding radon inhalation, at specifying hypotheses and scientific data on which these coefficients are based, and at discussing associated uncertainties. Thus, after some basic recalls on radon, this report presents the dosimetric approach on which is based the definition of dose coefficients in the CIPR 137 publication. The report then examines the consistency of these new values with respect to those derived from an epidemiological approach which had been CIPR's one until now. Variability and uncertainties associated with the determination of dose coefficients are then discussed.
