Dimensioning and costing of a half-bag anaerobic reactor at the pilot plant level for the production of biogas from coffee honey waters
Description
The main objective is to size and determine the construction costs of a half-bag anaerobic reactor, to evaluate the production of biogas from the honey waters of the coffee mill, specifically in the Cooperativa de Caficultores Coopetarrazu R.L., located in La Zona de Los Santos, San Marcos de Tarrazu. This company currently disposes of this waste in tree plantations on farms owned by the same company, using it as a type of liquid fertilizer to improve soil conditions. The company wants to evaluate the production of biogas using the coffee honey water as a substrate, since there are several operations within the same process that would be favored with the biogas that is produced, mainly in the operation of the mill boilers, since Currently they work with firewood and husk, but for this, the cooperative must constantly plant trees on their farms to later use them as firewood. It is thought to use the biogas for the generation of the flame inside the boilers and thus avoid unnecessary felling of trees; In addition to this, an 80% removal of the concentration of the Biochemical Oxygen Demand (BOD) and 85% of the Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD) is estimated, also favoring the reduction of the organic load. The biodigester to be sized has a rectangular geometric structure, since what will be done will be to condition one of the unoccupied piles within the campus. The pit is 2.46 m high, 4.17 m long and 2.25 m wide. It also has a concrete loading and unloading pool, two 2.30 m deep partitions and a flexible polyethylene bag for biogas storage. The daily feeding will be 3.3 m3/d and the estimated retention time of seven days. A biogas generation of 8.65 m3/d is estimated, which is equivalent to 12.82 kW h/d, which could be used for lighting or in electrical supply within the cooperative; If you choose to avoid feeding it to a motor, it could be fed directly as a flame to the mill boilers. The total investment cost is estimated at ¢1,001,000.00, the annual operating cost at ¢245,000.00 and the annual maintenance cost at ¢30,000.00

(author)Additional details
