Sorption of scandium and titanium subgroup elements by chemically modified silica in the presence of salicylhydroxamic acid

  • 1. Moskovskij Gosudarstvennyj Univ. (USSR)

Description

Studies were made on the sorption of scandium (3) and titanium subgroup elements on chemically modified silica, containing amino, quaternary ammonium and sulphonic groups, from HCl solutions in the presence of salicylhydroxamic acid (SHA). The data obtained and spectrophotometric investigation of complexing between metal ions and SHA in aqueous solutions showed that molecular or cationic complexes (M(OH)xLnCly)m+, where L-salicylhydroxamic acid anion, are sorbed. Methods were developed of intragroup chromatographic separation of the metal ions studied and of titanium (4) preconcentration in the presence of SHA on silica
