A model for the subsurface vertical transport of radon carried by geogas microbubbles

Description
A new model was developed for the detectability and transport of radon of subsurface origin. An advantage of the new model is its ability to solve many problems of emanation methods, e.g. depth limitations, reproductibility, etc., and gives a geologically and physically realistic description of the mechanism of radon transport. The role of subsurface waters and depth-born gases in the migration of radon is emphasized and new emanation methods in uranium prospecting are recommended. A survey is given on the problems of underwater radon detection with etch-track detectors. Finally, several subsurface radon concentration profiles are presented. (author)
