Description

Novel ligand, namely, Bis-(2-ethylhexyl) carbamoylmethoxyphenoxy-bis-(2-ethylhexyl), commonly termed as Benzodioxodiamide (BenzoDODA) impregnated polymeric resin was prepared and evaluated for its extraction behavior towards plutonium from nitric acid medium. Back extraction was effectively carried out using 0.3 M HAN (Hydroxyl Amine Nitrate) + 0.3 M HNO3. Reusability of resin was established by multiple sorption and desorption experiments carried out on the same column. Column studies showed that the Pu(IV) recovery was always higher than 90% in acidic medium. (author)
