Description

The critical dynamics of copper spins in the layered insulating antiferromagnet Pr2CuO4 have been investigated by scattering of cold neutrons in the vicinity of the quantum critical point (H C∼3.1 T at T=0). The critical scattering appears to be strongly temperature dependent near H C showing a Lorentz-shaped intensity peaked at T*∼5 K. While at higher fields the variation is smeared out. The energy width of the critical scattering remains resolution limited, with the best achieved energy resolution of 40 μeV
