Fundamental symmetries and the standard model
Description
The author surveys some experimental results on the standard model. These are the measurement of the ratio R=π→eνe/πμνμ as the test of lepton universality, a measurement of the muon helicity in the decay K+→μ+νμ, the polarization-ratio of the positron in Fermi and Gamow-Teller β decay of 14O and 10C, and the asymmetry parameter in the decay Λcc→Λπ+ as tests of the V-A theory providing improved limits on the existence of right-handed currents, the measurement of the elastic νee cross section, and the study of muon conservation in the reaction μ-Ti→e-Ti. Furthermore he considers some theoretical results on the lifetime for muon capture in muonic deuterium and the possibility of measuring T-violation in muon capture via spin correlations. (HSI)
