Ion waves and ionization waves in a plasma of finite radius
Description
The equations for a cylindrical plasma column with radial variations of the discharge parameters are examined for solutions corresponding to ion waves and ionization waves. Comparison with other less complete treatments shows that allowing for such radial variations introduces no new physical processes and that the numerical corrections involved are usually less than a factor of two in the dispersion relations for such waves.
