Weld joints made between type AlMgSiO.5 alloy and type X 5 CrNi 18 9 alloy for the vacuum system of a high energy catalizer

Description
The manufacturing problems that arise during the welding of joints between Type AlMgSiO,5 aluminium alloy and Type X 5 CrNi 18 9 chromium nickel steel for the vacuum system of an electron storage ring are discussed. Of the jointing processes investigated tungsten inert gas welding and friction welding proved to be the most effective whereas explosion welding and shield gas brazing proved to be unsatisfactory from the point of view of fabrication largely due to the high costs involved. Diffusion welding could not be taken into consideration due to the tight delivery schedules involved. A description is given of the testing and properties of the duplex components so produced. Eroertert werden beim Herstellen der Verbindungen zwischen der Aluminiumlegierung AlMgSiO,5 und Chrom-Nickel-Stahl X 5 CrNi 18 9 fuer das Vakuumsystem eines Elektronenspeicherringes auftretende Probleme. Von den untersuchten Fuegeverfahren erweisen sich das Wolfram-Inertgas- und das Reibschweissen als geeignet, waehrend das Sprengschweissen und Schutzgasloeten vor allem wegen der hohen Kosten und aus konstruktiver Sicht nicht befriedigen. Diffusionsschweissen kam aus Termingruenden nicht in Frage. Beschrieben werden das Pruefen und die Eigenschaften der Verbundteile. (orig.)Additional details
