Time and motion studies for exposure assessment and radiological experience in PFBR fuel assembling

  • 1. Radiological Safety Division, Indira Gandhi Centre for Atomic Research, Kalpakkam (India)

Description

Fuel Assembly and Storage Building is a facility built for receipt and storage of fuel pins, blanket pins and control rod materials of PFBR in respective storage vaults and assembling of fuel and blanket subassemblies. This paper discusses about the estimation of dose expenditure through time and motion studies and health physics experience gained during receipt, loading, assembling, welding and decontamination of PFBR blanket sub assembly (BSA) and fuel sub assembly (FSA). A new active facility for assembling the MOX fuels pins for PFBR was commissioned with effective implementation of radiation protection programme. Waste generation and personnel exposure are very minimal
