BWR transient response blowdown/emergency core cooling (BD/ECC) test phase: 1980 activities
Description
System performance and thermal response characteristics of BWRs during the blowdown phase of the postulated loss-of-coolant accident conditions were investigated in a test apparatus with different, scaled configurations. Effects of the configuration change on the system responses were identified. Test data obtained served as base-line data for the blowdown/emergency core cooling interaction experiments and as information to tie back to the previous 7 x 7 blowdown heat transfer tests. Comparisons of the predictions with the tests were made
