The effect of bowing on local heat transfer rates from rib-roughened fuel elements

  • 1. Queen Mary Coll., London (UK)
  • 2. Central Electricity Generating Board, Manchester (UK). North Western Region

Description

An electrochemical technique was used for measuring local mass transfer rates on two rods bowed towards one another and on a single rod bowed or displaced towards the channel wall. Distributions of normalised Stanton numbers around and along the rods were obtained for different bows and Reynolds numbers. Differences against results from heat transfer measurements are explained. A simplified transformation method indicates that the present values of St/Stsub(nom) should be applicable to heated fuel pins without substantial error. (author)
