Liquid effluent beta monitor
Creators
- 1. Aptec Engineering Ltd., Downsview, Ont.
Description
To measure and monitor the radioactivity of both pure beta and mixed gamma and beta emitting isotopes down to the maximum permitted concentrations in liquids, a beta monitor was designed. Based on large area, thin window geiger-mueller tubes, and a digital ratemeter the minimum detectable concentration of 90Sr--90Y in water was less than 1 pCi/ml with the monitor. Window effects, response time, statistical accuracy, decontamination and alarms are discussed
