Description

The quantity of spent fuel being stored in Canada in water pools and in concrete, dry storage canisters is approaching 80000 CANDU fuel bundles (16000 Mg U). Additional storage will be required at some sites in the 1990's, and will be provided by either additional water pools, dry storage in concrete containers, or some combination of these methods. This paper provides an update on spent fuel management in Canada since the IAEA Spent Fuel Management Newsletter No. 1
