Description

In the method described 125J was used (mean dose 1.48 MBq) instead of 131J in order to achieve a less radiation burden of the patients. Sublingual localization of the thyroid gland was detected in 46 patients. In 35 of them (76%) the gland was located in the middle, in 10 (21,7%) - on the right, and in one patient (2,3%) - sublingually on the left, with irregular circinate shape and reduced dimensions. In only one patient the thyroid gland was imaged as two functioning areas with vertical position and different functional activity. Three patients had combined anomalous development of thyroid gland: sublingual localization combined with lateral aberrant goiter. Sublingual thyroid localization was most frequently associated with hypothyroidism
