Semi-direct model analysis of the quadrupole radiation in the 40Ca(n,#betta#0) reaction

Description
The analysis power angular dependence for the 40Ca(nsup(→),#betta#0) reaction is investigated by the direct-semidirect model extended to account for capture of polarized incident nucleons. A satisfactory agreement between observed and calculated data is achieved. The analysis provides indications on the isoscalar quadrupole radiation strength by pure polarization effects induced by the E1-E2 interference. The sensitivity to such effects for different emission angles is discussed. (author)
