Outdoor high resolution in-situ gamma spectrometry for determination of terrestrial gamma dose rates at Anushaktinagar, Mumbai

  • 1. Health Physics Division, Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, Mumbai (India)

Description

In-situ, high-resolution, gamma-ray spectrometry of a total number of 7 outdoor representative measurements were performed in preselected, common locations of Anushaktinagar, Mumbai. Specific activities and gamma absorbed dose rates in air due to naturally occurring radionuclides 238U and 232Th series and 40K are determined. The observed total ambient γ-absorbed dose rates due to primordial radio nuclides in Anushaktinagar area ranged between 17.2 and 25.6 nGy h-1 with a mean of 20.8 ± 2.5 nGy h-1. (author)
