Neutrino programme at ILL

  • 1. ISN, Grenoble (France)

Description

The use of fission reactors providing a high flux of neutrinos can be a powerful tool in experimental neutrino physics. Some specific advantages of the ILL reactor are emphasised before the neutrino programme at ILL is presented. The programme includes the investigation of the simple anti-neutrino reactions anti-νsub(e) + d → n + n + e+ and anti-νsub(e) + p → n + e+. The proposed objectives involve the measurement of the cross sections and the examination of the fundamental questions of the stability of the neutrino and the neutrino-beam oscillations. The detection arrangements to be used are described. Future possibilities in the field of the weak neutral-current search are considered. (U.K.)
