Some cationic hydride and related complexes of Rh (III) with tertiary arsines and nitrogen donor ligands

  • 1. Bangalore Univ. (India). Dept. of Chemistry

Description

Complexes of the type HRhX2(Ph2PrAs)3 and RhX3L3(X is Cl or Br; L is Ph2PrAs or Ph2BuAs) react with 2,2-dipyridyl(dipy) and 1,10-phenanthroline(phen) in boiling enthanol and in the presence of perchloric acid to give cationic complexes of the type [HRhX(N-N)(Ph2PrAs)2]ClO4 and [RhX2(N-N)L2]ClO4, (N-N is dipy or phen), respectively. The trihalo compounds RhX3L3 react with pyridine (py) to give neutral complexes of the type, RhX3pyL2. The new cationic hydrido complexes show a band (vRh-H) around 2060 cm-1 which is lower by about 45 cm-1 when compared to that of the parent hydrides. (author)
