The present state is briefly described of operating nuclear power plants in Eastern European countries (Bulgaria, Hungary, the German Democratic Republic, Yugoslavia, Czechoslovakia) and of the development of nuclear power in Poland and Romania. The major problems are presented in the operation of WWER type reactors and in implementing new reactor units. (Z.S.). 4 figs
