Description
The methods of scanning electron microscopy, X-ray topography and X-ray structure were employed to study the crystallographic particularities of propagation of cracks in single crystals of molibdenum as a function of rates of application of tensile stresses along axis [001]. The relief of the cracks was shown to depend on the crystallographic orientation and the test rate. It was found that the extent of the plastic zone in the crack tip and the degree of work hardening of the surface of the fracture depend on the test rate and the crystallographic orientation
