X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy study of UO22+ interaction with calcite, diabase, and humic acids

Description

Interaction of uranyl perchlorate with calcite and diabase minerals and of uranyl acetate dehydrite with humic acids was studied by the method of X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy to evaluate the degree of radionuclides mobility, uranyl compounds specifically, in the rocks adjacent to uranium deposits. It is shown that during interaction with calcite and diabase uranyl compounds are concentrated on the mineral surface and in the form of K4UO2(CO3)3 may be contained in their crystal lattice, replacing calcium ions. Humic acids interact with uranyl ions intensively than with calcium ones, the concentration of uranyl groups on the surface being higher than the one in humates volume

Abstract (Russian)

С целью оценки степени подвижности радионуклидов, в частности соединений уранила, в породах, прилегающих к урановым месторождениям, методом рентгеноэлектронной спектроскопии изучено взаимодействие перхлората уранила с минералами кальцита и диабаза, а также дигидрата ацетата уранила с гуминовыми кислотами. Показано, что при взаимодействии с кальцитом и диабазом соединения уранила сосредотачиваются на поверхности минералов и в форме K4UO2(CO3)3 могут входить в их кристаллическую решетку, замещая ионы кальция. Гуминовые кислоты взаимодействуют более с ионами кальция, при этом концентрация уранильных групп на поверхности оказывается больше, чем в объеме гуматов
