The break preclusion in nuclear safety

Description

The author first recalls and discusses the definitions of the notion of break preclusion by the ASN and the IRSN, and also questions this notion. He also reports additional information provided by the ASN about this notion. He gives several examples of application of break preclusion in texts regarding nuclear safety and issued by a Permanent Group of Experts, and in ASN decisions, decision projects or mails. The author then more particularly addresses this issue of the EPR vessel which raises questions: even though the risk of a brutal break of the vessel is not limited, that which would mean that this vessel must not be operated, a decision has been taken to authorise it
