Practical measuring facilities for direct incorporation monitoring

Description

A standardized monitoring system is presented consisting of a shadow-shield partial-body monitor and a thyroid monitor with detector shielding. Both of the monitors contain NaI(Tl) detectors. With 63 mm diameter x 63 mm thick crystals, the minimum detectable activities for a 5-minute measurement were found to be about 370 Bq (10 nCi) of 60Co in the lungs and 111 Bq (3 nCi) of 131I in the thyroid.
