Orbital and spin polarizations of conduction electrons in rare-earth compounds

Description
The accurate determination of magnetic form factors with polarized neutrons for several rare-earth dialuminides has allowed us to separate the local 4f contribution to the magnetization from that coming from the 5d and 6s conduction electrons. We attempt to explain the variation of the non-local contribution across the RE series. (orig.)
