Spectra of drift-wave turbulence
Description
The central question of drift-wave turbulence is describing the transport in k-space of the wave energy from small to large scales. This transport process is mostly through weak-turbulence interactions which justifies a complete study of the weak-turbulence spectral balance equation. The talk is a summation of the analytic results of the predictions from weak turbulence spectral balance theory of drift waves obtained during the last three years. The studies include: (1) Finding the new motional invariant governing the direction of turbulent energy flux in k-space, (2) Finding the Kolmogorov-type fluctuation spectra and the analysis of their stability, (3) Developing the non-local weak-turbulence mode coupling model, describing the direct transport of wave energy to large scales. The interaction of the weak turbulence fluctuation components and the vortex-soliton components is also discussed. 2 refs
