On the mhd generator optimization
Description
The first part of the work contains an analysis of the state-of-the-art in quest for an optimum MHD-generator. Methods of calculation of MHD generators are considered, and the algorithm of calculation of the MHD generator parameters is described, based on the approximation of a boundary layer and integral consideration of congitudinal bringe effect. The calculation technique of the MHD generator is as follows: from calculation of a nozzle the inlet parameters for the MHD generator channel are determined; corrections of resultant entalpy and pressure governed by the leakage current are found; and the current leakage at the input of the channel is obtained; the boundary layer is calculated and its parameters at the input of the electrode zone are determined; then for a zone along the channel of the MHD generator a set of equations is solved for the flow core along with the equations of the boundary layer. Finally the leakage current at the output of the channel is calculated and the integral characteristics of the MHD generator are determined. Crude estimates of optimal modes are provided
