Pulse radiolysis studies on the radiation resistance of liquid n-alkane in the presence of additives

Description
The primary processes of the radiation protection effects have been studied by means of nanosecond pulse radiolysis. In the naphthalene/n-dodecane system, the charge transfer from both the solvent cation radical and electron to additive occurred and energy transfer also occurred. In the tetralin/n-dodecane system, the charge transfer from the solvent cation radical to additive occurred, however, tetralin did not react with electron. Decalin reacted with neither cation radical nor electron. From these results, the reactivities of additives with intermediate species depend on the aromaticity of additives. (author)
